Applied animation, deciding on the brief

We have been given this brief today called 'a tale in the sting' to help us demonstrate and develop an understanding of the way animation may be applied in a more real sense, how we can be given a brief, whilst using the principles of animation and make it relevant for tv and commercial use.
We have been asked to pick one of three study tasks for this brief, the tasks are idents, titles and campaign. The first, Idents we have been given four different television channels and asked to create a 10 second 'sting' for three of them. The four channels are E4, CBeebies, BBC 4 and the Discovery channel. The second task is Titles in which we have been asked to pick a book or story and create a 40 second opening title sequence as if it was being turned into a movie or tv show. The last campaign, we have been given a choice of two charities and asked to create a 40 second promotional video for one of the two choices.
I wasn't sure at first between the first two but have decided to go with the idents study task as it seems to spark my interest the most. It is something i enjoy on tv, and short stings is something i feel i would engage with the most. I also like the fact it is very broad and may allow me to do 3 different styles is i choose and because the tv channels are so different the style and feel of each idents can be completely different from each other, and have a different feel and style to them.
I also feel the first one will allow me to push myself more as i will be forced to not just look at one type of audience, really pushing me to look in what they are looking for and how to keep with the feel of the television channel. It is limited to an extent as i will have to use the logo and wont have as much freedom as i may have with maybe titles, where i can decide on the book, and depending on the book, it would give me freedom on how i decide to interpret that into an animation. The last one would possibly push me the most but it interests me the least as although it may be a good task to try and create a formative animation, my interests in doing such a serious topic wouldn't do it justice and i feel wouldn't push my skills in the way i want.

I feel as if an Ident is meant to sum up the identity of the channel in a few seconds and that is what i want to do, with mixing my own style within without loosing the feel of the channel.
