experiments in botanicollage

Experiments in Botanicollage from Caryn Cline on Vimeo.

This is an experimental animation in botanicollage by the film maker caryn cline. It was created by altering 16mm film using flora, paints, markers and other tools through a collaboration of artists. I feel like this is a good example of experimental film, and although includes no sound i feel its a good example of how you could respond to sound through the marks and movement, to me it feels like it could be almost electronic and house sound would look to me if it was visualised which many people are able to do. I especially love the techniques used in its creation with its fast moving colours and light through the film. i found it a really appealing film and the idea of working straight onto the film can create a mesmerising effect like an imprint of life.

using raw materials to create this film/animation really brings life and nature into it, something i had never thought of before as much. It feels very raw as a piece of art and is a piece i keep playing over and over to spot and look closer as as it changes between parts of insect wings and a mixture of colours and experimental paintings on such a small film.
