Spirited away - Studio Ghibli

Spirited away is one of my favourite movies by Studio Ghibli, because of the colours used, characters within and mostly the attention to detail within the sets. Most of the backdrops are hand painted creating a beautiful effect, and scenery within the movie. Miyazaki based some of the buildings in the spirit world on the buildings in the real-life Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum in Japan.

The textures and colours used within really ad to the mystical charm, keeping with a very japanese style within the work. The colours in are very vibrant and lively really appealing to its audiences, i like the idea of layering the backdrops to add the depth and the time. A lot of it looks like a mixture of watercolour and touch up on photoshop or another program. It was a very inspirational movie to me growing up, the way the water moves and how simple a lot of it seems when studied closely.
