SERIGRAPHS - Eyvind Earle

I stumbled upon this work when i was looking into landscapes and the depth and colour within the pictures really intrigued me, even more so when i found out they were created through screen printing. I really love the colours within these pieces and the lay out of the mountains and trees, with beautiful exaggeration on the important aspects, capturing the time and place perfectly. With the colours used i feel i can almost imagine the temperature, the lighting if i was there, the sounds, even the smell of the surroundings and the water in the air. Colour and placement are very important and here it feels almost mesmerising showing another world we can relate to, i feel this would inspire a mesmerising background in an animation. The artist passed away in 2000, and is definitely an artist i will be looking more into with his mixture of works.

Here is a selection of Eyvind Earls Serigraphs, Serigraphs are a print produced using the process of silkscreen printing, one of the major divisions of printmaking. Although the techniques used are often different the process is still the same created by pushing the ink through a screen with a squeegee.

Forested hillsides rising to the sky
From of the ocean deep to way up high
And interlaced with pastures cool and green
And gentle winds wiping the treetops clean

Silk screen printing as I use it becomes an art medium in itself as important and original and different as oil painting watercolor pastel etching or engraving effects that only be achieved with the silk screen process I do not try to copy an oil painting but rather I create a new work of art using the silk screen process.
